Forecasting is the act of requesting classes for next year's schedule. Students at DHS request classes in the Spring in preparation for the following school year. School counselors will come into classrooms and help students fill out their forecasting forms.

DHS Honors Diploma  A 26-credit diploma earned through a planned program of study that exceeds graduation and Oregon diploma standards. Students receive special recognition at Senior Awards and Graduation. Portfolio due March 1 of senior year. 

Advanced Coursework/AP Classes  DHS offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses. College credit can be earned through AP exams in the spring. Teacher approval required. Fee required to take AP exam. Good AP scores can translate into college money saved! ​​

College Credit Now  Dual credit (high school and college credit at the same time) can be earned through several classes at DHS. There is a small fee to enroll in the college credit part of the high school class. This is through Chemeketa Community College.  Connect with your counselor for further details on these courses.

Early Graduation  Students may apply to graduate 1 semester or 1 year early. Parent permission, letters of support, and a plan must accompany the application. Please see your counselor for the application.

Willamette Promise  Dual credit (high school and college credit at the same time) is available to all students through many high school courses through a proficiency-based exam program.  Small fee required.

Expanded Options: For students who wish to access college level classes that are NOT offered at the high school, there is financial assistance for Chemeketa through Expanded Options.  Students must apply, have own transportation, and take the CCC Placement Tests. Applications must be turned in at least 4 weeks prior to the class starting. Expanded Options Process Overview

​GED Options: This free GED program is offered through a partnership with Chemeketa Polk Center. Students must be 16, have parent permission, and have a plan for the future. This is an application based program and spots are limited. See your school counselor for more information.

When students become credit deficient we have ways to get them back on track. Please see the following links or ask your school counselor to learn more about your options. 

Edgenuity: An online platform that DHS uses for credit recovery.

Off Campus Work Experience: Students can earn 0.5 elective credit per semester by working 10 hours per week. A maximum of 3 Work Experience credits can be earned on your high school transcript.

Morrison Campus Alternative School: A diploma program for grades 11 and 12 aimed at students who are off track for graduation or who need an alternative learning environment.  Applications in the DHS Counseling Office. 

To be eligible to participate in sports at DHS, students must be enrolled in school, attend regularly and be passing in all subjects equivalent to at least five classes. These requirements are for the current semester as well as for the preceding semester. In addition, students must be "on track" to graduate. To be on track to graduate all incoming sophomores must have 4 credits, incoming juniors--9.5 credits, and seniors--17 credits, when fall practice starts in August. Students will be deemed ineligible for the entire school year if they fall below the required number of credits. Contact the athletic office for more information.
