I learned how to cook pretty naturally. I have a HUGE family (I'm the second oldest of 11 kids), and I helped my parents in the kitchen all of the time. My dad was our main meal-maker, and he is fearless in the kitchen, so I took my cues from him, adding a little of this and a little of that. In my freshman year of high school, I took a Foods for Life class, and I really fell in love. I gained a lot more confidence and learned techniques that we didn't use at home. I continue to learn new techniques constantly. I love trying new recipes and making my family be the guinea pigs. Sometimes my experiments work, and sometimes they don't, but I always love the process of cooking and baking. I find it to be very relaxing! If I'm not cooking in the kitchen, I am usually either hanging out with my friends, reading a book, listening to an audiobook, or listening to podcasts. I love to spend time with my husband, Mitch, and my two boys Grant (studying at OSU) and Cole (a student at DHS). I LOVE teaching, and I hope you see that as you get to know me in class.
