This semester long class builds on previously taken courses in welding or woods to challenge and enhance the skills developed through advanced projects and project preparation. Projects may combine with other knowledge areas such as woodworking, hydraulics, and others

Course Description: This course is designed for those students interested in a career in engineering and design, machine maintenance, and welding and fabrications. The course will focus on the areas of welding and metal working as well as project design. Students will utilize standard safe practices while using machinery and tools to create, refurbish, or design various projects.

Wood & Construction 1
This is a semester long hands-on, activity-based course that includes introductory skills and content for beginning woodworkers. Students will use a variety of common hand and power tools as well as different finishing techniques to construct projects for student use.

Course Description: This is an entry level course with little to no experience required. Students will learn essential skills of woodworking and construction trades including: safe operational procedure for tool use, material selection, project planning, fastening, joinery, and finishing This is a hands on course that will involve the training and use of a variety of commonly used hand and power tools.

Wood & Construction 2
In this semester long course students will engage in lab activities and projects that reinforce skills used in the construction trades. Students may also create projects of their own with appropriate planning and materials. Students will also have the opportunity to learn more about CNC design and construction.

Prerequisite: Ag Woods & Construction II
Course Description: This is a mid-level course that may be challenging to students without prior wood working experience. Students will continue to develop the basic skills of wood working while continuing to grow in areas such lathe work, cabinetry, construction framing and more. The students will be challenged to build larger and more complicated projects than Carpentry I students. Sample projects include but are not limited to: tables, cabinets, wood framed buildings, etc. This is a hands on course that will involve the training and use of a variety of commonly used hand and power tools. Prerequisite: None Course Description: This is an entry level course designed to introduce students to metals and welding. Students will demonstrate proficiency in tool identification, safe shop practices, proper set up, use, and shut down procedures for Oxyacetylene welding, SMAW, and GMAW. The skills outlined in the class are meant to meet the Linn Benton Community College requirements for their College Now WD 4.151 and WD 4.242 courses. At the time that articulation agreements are in place we hope to offer this course to DHS students through the College Now program.

Small Engine Mechanics

Prerequisite: None Course Description: This is an entry level course designed to introduce students to the internal combustion engine, small engine maintenance and repair, plumbing, concrete and equipment safety. Students will utilize hands on lab activities to wire common household circuits, perform basic plumbing work, tear down and rebuild small engines, pour concrete, and earn their equipment safety certification for farm equipment.

Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources

Course Description: The introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources course is meant to be an entry level course for students interested the broad range of subjects that make up agricultural education. These subjects may include: animal science, food science, natural resources, forestry, crop production, soil management, agricultural mechanics, agricultural sales and much more. The course will lightly cover a variety of topics to give students a taste of each.

Intermediate Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
Animal Science
This year long course is an introduction to animal science. The course provides an overview of livestock production and practices currently used. This course includes a variety of hands-on lab activities including dissections, feeding and nutrition trials, and more.

Course Description: Dallas High School Home of the Dragons Animal Science 2019-2020 The animal science course is aligned with the LBCC ANS 121 course (at such time as articulation agreements are reached this course may be offered for LBCC credit). The course examines body systems of the food and fiber species and the interaction of these systems. The students are introduced to a various phases of the livestock industry, including terminology production practices, marketing, and selection techniques.

Veterinary Sciences
In this semester long course, students focus on the area of veterinary medicine as it pertains to both companion animals and livestock. Hands-on laboratory activities will reinforce concepts learned. Some sample units in this course include: animal handling and restraint, companion animal management, ethics and best management practices.
Equine Sciences
Plant Sciences
In this year long class students should expect to learn about what plants require to grow as well as how to produce plants for the horticulture industry. Much of the course is spent in our greenhouse facility working with plants and learning how to grow and reproduce plants using different techniques
Forestry Management
This semester long class is focused on the forestry industry. Students should expect speakers, lab activities, and demonstrations with course units on different types of forests, common forest plants in the northwest, forest and natural resource management, as well as commercial production and harvesting techniques.
Wildlife Management
In this semester long course, students will learn about the native wildlife species of the northwest, how species and landscape are managed for differing purposes. Students will also learn about species reintroduction, habitat management and the importance of understanding how humans and wildlife can coexist.
Agribusiness and Leadership
This semester long course is for students interested in creating their own business. This course includes instruction on personal finance concepts as well as commercial enterprises. Students will learn about taxes, advertisement, budgeting, investing, and much more. Along with the business side of the class, students will be engaging in leadership development activities to help them grow as leaders in their chosen fields.

Course Description: Dallas High School Home of the Dragons Ag Business Leadership 2019-2020 The Ag Business Leadership Course is designed and created for those students who are intent on pursuing a career in an agricultural field. The course is meant to push students to develop both their knowledge of business but also their ability to clearly communicate their knowledge of agriculture and its varied subject matters and how it relates to politics and law.
